The Weight of Memory, 2019

Fabric installation

12 ft. x 10 ft. x 10 ft.

The weight of a memory is measured by its impact on our lives. Sometimes good memories haunt us. The sweet taste of melancholia, when we look back and think about those moments we had, what it once was and what it will be again. These moments become more pronounced among immigrants. The memory of home and the comfort of what is familiar are suddenly replaced by the unknown. We hold on to these sweet memories, thinking about their coming back, and hoping for a better future. Yet, it is a lot of weight to carry to move forward.
