I find sewing things together is a violent act. The needle breaks through the material and the thread penetrates through the layers. It is a destruction that unites these two different elements together. It becomes a metaphor for the struggles we constantly encounter in our lives. It is those moments that break us, the ones that bind us together. Uniting the pieces of our community against the oppression.
